Toddler Time for Reading

My grandson is now two years old and when he comes to visit he always heads to my bookshelves looking for books I have designated he is allowed to "touch". Liam is so good about not messing with books on the shelf I have told him No to. (A good little boy just like his daddy was as a toddler.)

Liam really likes animal books with lots of pictures of critters in them. We have two that we read each time he is here, one with dogs and one of whales.



I have started collecting books for Liam. In fact, last week with a portion of earnings from my articles at Squidoo, I purchased a few books for Christmas gifts, including the book "Find My Friends" for Liam. I must have purchased the last one as the book is currently unavailable at Amazon.

Not to worry! I have plenty more books for infants, toddlers, and children to share with you. I have two collections of board books so far, with more to come. Take a look and see what books you can find to add to toddler time for reading in your home.

A young child's attention span is short, naturally, so we turn the pages quite quickly. Soon, Liam runs off to play with his trucks or insists on a game of chase with Grandma. Not to worry, he will return to the books in a little bit!

I am currently reading Growing Up In Boom Times by Chris Brockman. This book is a trip down memory lane for those of us who grew up as Baby Boomers. However, it isn't just a glance at our past; it's a glance at our future -- viewed through the eyes of our present -- and through the life and words of the author. Of course, I will be posting a review, and I have a few more promotional surprises in mind for this title and author.

 

I recently finished reading No Greater Sacrifice by John C. Stipa. Herein lies mystery and mayhem, death and destruction, evil and enchantment, and a romancing of the mind as sharp as the cutting edge of a sword. My review shall be posted soon.

 

I will read next my first eBook: Flower Child by Sheila Deeth. As part of the Flower Child Book Tour, I will be posting my review of this title on October 31st.

Reading, Writing, Reviewing, and More

For sure! Seriously, I've finished reading 3 books now and need to get those book reviews written ... Yesterday! Son of My Soul and ChristmaSin' need to be reviewed. And I need to write the review for Write Ways to Win Writing Contests.

John Howard Reid, the author of Write Ways to Win Writing Contests has agreed to grace us with a book giveaway, too! More on that when I post the book review ... Soon!

This week I received two new publications. I won I Dare You To Change in a blog book giveaway and it arrived today. Looks like a great and positive read for me. I also received, for review, Sworn To Secrecy For Life. I'm really excited about this book and author Charles Joseph Fickey. I'll be sharing tidbits of this one each week while reading, so you'll get to WoW with me!

Reading Time

I don't know about you, but I just can't seem to find, or make, enough time to get caught up with reading the books on my bookshelf for reading and for review. I generally head to bed with a book to read for an hour or so before I fall asleep. However, this just doesn't seem to be enough time to get through my reading list. The books are shelfing up faster than I'm able to read them. How do you stay caught up with your reading? Or, are you behind, as I am?

Speaking of my bookshelf. I've added a few this past month or two, oh my! I've won a couple in blog and Gather.com member giveaways, and I've purchased a few from author friends.

In snailmail today, I received my copy of Forever Becoming by Kasey Klein. I purchased this book title, as I've great respect for this author's literary style and have read numerous essays and stories written by Kasey that enticed me into wanting to read more.

I also received an email this morning from Rick of rhodesreview.com that I won his giveaway of Silent Kill by David Fingerman. I met David at Gather.com, so I'm truly looking forward to this book's arrival.
