Dirty Job But Somebody Has To Do It!

Although this week I finished the reading of "Horses Who Eat Potatoes: And Other Truer-than-life Stories of "The Other Family Doctor," I just have to share one more excerpt of the book with you before posting my full review this weekend.

Sharing 100 words from the chapter "When All Else Fails" page 53...






     He asked why he couldn't go with us in the back. I stuttered, not knowing how to explain a vaginal unltrasound to an eight-year-old.
     "She has to get an untrasound, " Justin said simply.
     "Oh." His face fell. "I'm sorry."
     "Why are you sorry?" I asked.
     "I'm sorry you have to get an arm stuck up your butt."
     Justin and I burst out laughing. Of course, the only ultrasounds he had ever seen done were on my patients, horses, who are always ultra sounded rectally. A dirty job, but a necessary one.
     My fertility doctor, when we told her, was thankful...
